My son currently has an ID pay monthly sim, but he is getting a new contract phone with ID mobile for Christmas. He wants to keep his current number, so do we request a PAC even though the number is transferring from ID to ID?

It’s entirely up to you but a triangle port isn’t that complicated. The main part is waiting.

So only posting as a just in case - if his current number and account are no longer within the minimum term you could request a PAC and move his current number to another provider, I would suggest a simple PAYG as no credit checks take place.

Then once his number is working with this other provider you then ask them for a PAC. You then apply this PAC (via iD’s Live Chat) to the new account and new number.

If all of this is done before Christmas then his new phone and his original number should be working in time for Christmas day. However until Santa actually delivers his new phone he could use the new SIM but with his number in his old phone. The only caveat would be if both phones have different sized SIM’s (most modern phones have the same though).

Hi @Cat S,

Welcome to the Community!

Unfortunately you can’t port from one iD Mobile account to another.

If you wish to keep the number he can check his upgrade options via the app or account online.

The other option is a triangle port which means that he ports his number to a different network and then back to iD Mobile on the new contract.

Oh really? I had no idea that we wouldn’t be able to keep his number. As he is a child it needed to be me that took out the contract so we couldn’t really do an upgrade. I guess he’ll just have to have a new number.
Thank you for your help!
