Tried everything on Samsung A55 5G phone but cannot register iD physical sim on network?

Hi,

After 7 hours of trying every bit of advice, contacting iD chat ,checked sim in older Samsung A20e (it worked perfectly), I am about to do a regretful factory reset. Something in the phone is causing a problem and I have run out of ideas.

Tried…

All types of reset reset in general management.

Flight mode on for 2 mins and off again.

Selecting different networks and back to iD again to clear cache. Toggled select automatically endless times.

Cleared cache from Sim Toolkit

Turned phone off and on so many times throughout process.

If anyone knows of an app or something that can be cleared please let me know as I’d like to know what is causing the problem?

This is doing my head in!

Thanks...

Hi @Hemmick Reed,

That certainly sounds frustrating, especially as you've already worked through such an extensive list of troubleshooting steps.

Before going ahead with a factory reset, there are a couple of additional things you could try:

  • Check whether there's a software update available for the handset.
  • Remove and reinsert the SIM, ensuring it's seated correctly.
  • Reset your network settings if your device offers this option separately.
  • Check the handset's APN settings are correct.
  • If you're using a dual-SIM device, ensure the correct SIM is selected for mobile data, calls and texts.
  • Try the phone in Safe Mode (if supported) to rule out any third-party apps causing interference.

As you've mentioned that the SIM works perfectly in your Samsung A20e, the issue does appear to be related to the handset rather than the network itself. However, if you've exhausted all available troubleshooting and the problem persists, we'd recommend contacting our Customer Service Team via Live Chat.

They can run some additional checks and, if appropriate, arrange a replacement SIM for testing purposes to completely rule out the SIM as a contributing factor: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

Hopefully one of the additional steps above helps avoid the need for a factory reset, but if not, our Live Chat team will be able to advise on the next steps.

Hi Gemma,

Thank you for the reply and advice.

I tried just about everything and your advice above. By next day it had sorted itself so not sure what was the problem in the end. Deleting the APN’s was another idea but by then it was all sorted.

It was triggered by me accidentally make a call from the UK to a family member visiting from Poland. I did’t realise but I was phoning a 48….. number. So actually I was phoning a Polish number. It probably routed all over the place. Although the call wasn’t answered I think I became stuck on a Polish network.

I wish there was an easy way to sort this easily, as it happens when I return from France. At least I have a list of ways to tackle this now.

Thanks.

Hi @Hemmick Reed,

Thanks for coming back and letting us know.

I'm pleased to hear that the issue has now resolved itself, even if it's not entirely clear what caused it in the first place.

From your description, it's possible that attempting to call the Polish number may have contributed, particularly if your device or network settings became temporarily stuck while trying to route the call internationally. Sometimes these issues can clear themselves once the network refreshes.

If you experience something similar in the future, the best first step is usually to perform a network settings reset, as this refreshes your phone's connection settings and often resolves issues related to calls, texts and mobile data.

It's great that you've now built up a list of troubleshooting steps that work for you, especially as you've noticed similar behaviour after returning from France.

Thanks again for sharing the outcome, and we're glad everything is working as expected now. If you need any further assistance, just let us know.

Regards,
