Upgrade, what to expect.


I am going to upgrade from a sim only plan to a new phone / sim contract. The price is cheaper through Carphone warehouse, if I go ahead do I get a new SIM card, or do I just swap my sim into the new phone? I want to retain my phone number.

If it’s classed as a network upgrade you will keep the same number and SIM and just put it into the new handset. 
 

If it’s a new connection with a new number then you will have to give 30 days notice to cancel your existing iD (may be subject to early termination fees if still in contract)

You won’t be able to transfer your old number from iD to a new iD connection directly and if you wanted to keep your number you would have to port it to another network PAYG SIM and then port it back again.

Have you checked the iD app for your upgrade options?

Hey there ​@Henrybp, thank you for your question.

 

If you wish to keep your number with us directly, you will need to order an upgrade via the iD Mobile app/website. If you order a new plan via Carphone Warehouse, this would not be an upgrade, and you wouldn’t keep your number directly.

 

If you’re unhappy with upgrade deals, please call our sales team via the time-frames and the phone number sent above by ​@MZone.

Thanks for the response. I think the easiest option is just to buy a new phone and swap my sim into it.
