why can't I send SMS to shortcode ?

Has something changed (well obviously it has!) . I can no longer send a text to a short code number, I have sent messages to this number before for a year or two , up until a couple of weeks ago. I haven't changed any of my out of plan preferences ( I have checked my settings ).  I still have a full amount cap in place and have my account set to send out to premium numbers and short code numbers ?

Sorry i never replied , I have found the issue is with Google not ID ,  my phone was set using Google. SMS  messaging obviously they have changed something  Security wise ? , I have changed it over to Samsung messaging and all works again , so thank you for your response 😃

Have you checked that your phone doesn’t have any premium SMS restriction?

Yes I have my phone set for premium SMS to "Never ask" and allow i have my ID account set to Premium SMS Allowed and a unused bill cap when sending,  As I say it has been working fine just suddenly stopped , I have the same phone and not changed any phone settings

Same happening to me, was working but now isn’t - businesses I’m not so worried but NHS & DWP/HMRC use short codes sometimes and I can’t respondd, pls help! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Added note using iMessage on iOS iPhone 15 pro max 

so confused I don’t think there’s any restrictions in my phones settings I checked before asking here!

Same issue on iPhone 16. Can’t see any settings restricting SMS.

where’s the ID account setting around this?

I am so sorry to hear of the issues that you are having with sending texts. 

 

Kindly note that in order to text short code numbers, you would need to increase your bill cap.

 

Here’s how:

To change your bill cap with iD Mobile, log in to the iD Mobile App or My Account online, navigate to the 'Bills' section, select 'Manage bill cap', and adjust the slider to your desired amount. Changes take effect immediately, allowing you to set a limit between £0 and your credit limit. 
 

If this does not work, please let me know so that this can be investigated.

Hi, I can’t donate by text. I have checked Bill Cap and it is fine. I have checked that I allow premium rate texts. What else should I do?

 I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues donating by text. I understand how frustrating this must be, especially as you’ve already checked your settings and bill cap.

 

We’ve actually been experiencing some provisioning difficulties since yesterday which may be affecting premium rate and short code texts. At the moment, we’re aware of the problem and our teams are actively working to resolve it as quickly as possible. However, we’re not yet

able to confirm how long the resolution will take or whether the issue is affecting all networks or only iD Mobile customers.
