Why do I suddenly have no signal?

Why do some of my messages get held for review by moderators? Any insight into this would be appreciated, and allow me to avoid whatever is triggering this repeated review issue.

Hi @Xerxes

Thank you for getting back to us and confirming the issue with the Community page sorted itself out. I did also report this on our side but it was quite an unusual one!

Let us know if you have any further issues with that one.

With the replacement SIM, of course we can get this ordered for you.

We’ll shortly send you a Private Message to your Community account, so we can discuss your issue further.

To access your messages, click your profile picture in the top right hand corner and then click ‘Private Messages’.

Alternatively, if you are currently logged in, you can use the following link: https://community.idmobile.co.uk/inbox/overview

Speak soon,

Nat

<snipped> and the wonderful Daz's aid?

Honestly, thanks!

that a member of your community who has had appalling service from you is able to help vastly more people on here than your entire staff?

Yep, can’t argue with that, my iDM connection is simply appalling. That force LTE app does work, but it also highlights just how bad the 4G is here. I had a mixed bag regarding several calls on Wednesday (most were pretty good with only one dropping), yet on Thursday they were mostly pretty bad. Obviously all calls stayed on 4G which is the only positive and at least it confirms my phone isn’t causing this. Plus I also now know my phone would work on any providers whom have already switched their 3G off (as long as their 4G signal is good enough😫)

I only joined these forums to actually check if I’d set our accounts up correctly for roaming and it was never my intention to still be on here. It was only after getting back from Europe that I happened to mention our signal had degraded and I was asked by a staff member to explain and look what that became!

I was planning to jump ship in December (as I alluded to across several posts and when I do move provider I would very likely just stop posting), but I’ve been rather busy trying to get my connection issues addressed hence going over my ‘finish’ date. And being as I now know my area (using 3UK) isn’t going to get fixed for many many many more months I’m just waiting on O2 to switch off their 3G here and then I’ll be testing various SIMs out. Whomever ‘wins’ gets 3 SIMs as a minimum.

Think perhaps you ought to offer Daz a job at this point. Or at least sone incentives.

I like the way you’re thinking but any such offer would be declined. At least I can post what I like when I like (to a degree) whereas the staff are bound to have their own thoughts/opinions but have to wear the iDM t-shirt.

To date I have not received any incentives and if any did I would simply pass them forward. I’m not here for the fame or fortune. I’ve always been one to help others and although my own health is not in the best place whilst I still can (my health will never recover and it is getting difficult) I will offer help/advice/suggestions either on here or elsewhere. But at the end of the day when I’m gone at least others should see I tried my best. Though for some I feel like I failed.

This is one other reason why my time on here could be nearing its conclusion - our posts going for review is a Gainsight (they ‘power’ these forums) anti spam ‘thing’ and even though I have had this raised it remains an issue, although I can also get a “Something’s gone wrong” too. The latter is, I’m guessing, due to how often I post and the content within each post.

But when our posts do get put into the naughty corner its a system thing, not a human thing and so nothing sinister - just a right pita.

Hi @Natalie W

Yayyy, you're back!

Thats perfect, thank you very much. I wish all the staff were as capable of reading as you are. Teehee.

I shall go check PM's momentarily, and hopefully we can get this all resolved at last! Assuming new sim solves the problem anyway.

Also one other request. It appears my last comment managed to triple lost and I have no idea how to delete my own posts/ comments - so if you could advise or else delete two of the duplicates for me , that would be much appreciated. Just to save on clutter in this already quite cluttered thread!

Thank you for both your help and for raising that strange sign in issue. Was odd indeed!

@Daz_S I shall get back to you later on, swamped in admin related to mums move at the mo! Just want you to know I'm not ignoring you!

Grab a coffee or drink of your choice, this might be a long read as I only got the email notifications this morning

So after reading all your tips and info and such I've been observing my phones antics with a keener and more well trained eye. I also randomly had signal this morning (recieved a missed call and everything!) But then it went away and didnt return.

I too have the same here - though mine (now forcing LTE) has kept the calls going on 4G, but also highlights when the masts take a dump! Only had 3 out of about 10 drop mid-conversation. Others have been ok(ish) and some have some considerable break-up.

Xerxes wrote:

However i did notice two things. Firstly, my signal bars were vastly improved when my internet wasn't connecting (due to mums new basement flat) - which seems odd.

Hmm, I think I know what’s happening here. Yours must (as mine did prior to the force LTE) be dropping to 3G and (if its like mine) the 3G signal is way stronger. I did some ‘testing’ moving my phone from 4G (1 bar) to 3G (3 bars) and 2G (2-3 bars). Even though 3UK have stated 3G is no more it actually hasn’t gone, hence why all of us in shite signal areas are suffering.

Xerxes wrote:

Secondly, that you were spot on, and when i attempt to call out it DOES drop me to 3G, fails to connect and then drops internet entirely.

Told ya!

Xerxes wrote:

Regarding the calling and surfing simultaniously - I wasnt doing that, I just expressed it poorly. I meant I was observing the connection to internet whilst calling, using speaker to see if i get a dailing tone and watching the reactions of the little icons for both kinds of signal (mast and internet). Though it ought to be able to do both anyway.

Okay, no bother. Yes that’s what got me all started with this chuffing saga, my signal was all over the place and I could ‘see’ when the 4G dropped off the face of the earth.

Much as i share your trepadations about the demands of third party software wanting too many permissions for the fubctions they provide,i also share you desire to have a functioning phone again and as ID seem intent to avoid responsibility or involvement in a solution - I thank you VERY much for the suggestion. I shall look into that today. You are an angel, Daz.

Yes I’m at the point of trying anything - engineer here for FTTC so back shortly

Will also check those settings and report back. Many thanks once again!

Last mesaage is pending moderator review, but looked at settings again. Don't have that one listed (service provider software information).

I have "SE for Android status" "Security Software information" "Know version" "Build number"  "Kernel Version" and "Baseband version" - which seems the most similar in format but ends in TJ2.

That’s the right screen, the service provider software version is further down (or AFAIK it should be) BUT try this (just checked and it works on my S10+) tap on settings and then tap on the magnifying glass/search icon (upper right) and then start typing service pro← mine got this this and gave the answer provider software and it should allow you to tap on the result and it should take you there. Unless your A3 doesn’t show this….?
