I was using sat nav via iPhone in Greece. When on Corfu coast, phone switched to Albanian Telecom and got 3 messages in 20 seconds saying I reached limit of £45 and couldn’t use phone for data anymore.

if when I receive bill I am charged extra, I will cancel contract. It’s a total rip off.

i was not given the option to decline Albanian Telecom.

If your device’s network selection is set to automatic, it will automatically connect to the strongest signal. However, it’s up to you to configure your device correctly. Set it to manual mode and always set your spend cap to zero to avoid any nasty surprises when the bill arrives.

Hi @Dead Cat

Sorry to hear this, unfortunately as @WelshPaul suggests, that is exactly how this happens, most (if not all) devices are by default to automatically select the best/strongest network it can, sometimes if you’re on the border of a country and connect to the other country’s network and that country isn’t included in your plan, it can cost extra.

It’ll be worth considering changing the settings in your device yourself to ensure you’re only ever connected to networks you choose yourself, or more generally speaking to avoid any unwanted costs under any circumstances, adjust the bill cap in your iD Mobile app.
