Over the past couple of months my bill shows premium rate text messages every few days at around 5pm at a cost of £1.50 each time. Checking my “recent” telephone calls I have received no such texts. I have tried using the iD lookup for the short form number which is 78484 but this doesn’t give details of the company involved. This is costing me a great deal of money ….. how can I stop it?

My wife was continually being charged for 3 premium rate texts each month from 78484 at a cost of £1.50 each.

In the I.D. app. set your bill cap to zero to stop this.

It's the only thing that works.Sending a STOP or STOP ALL message did not stop the charges but setting bill cap to zero does work.

I have not received any messages so unable to reply!!! If such messages were flagged up as spam of course, they may have been blocked without being opened!

Hi @SteveT100

I’d recommend the same from @MZone above if this is not a number/service you wish to use.

Hi Tyler regarding premium rate texts I spoke to someone months ago at your call centre and he went through the 3 accounts I have and he asked me to verbally request for each one to have premium rate texts disabled. The problem only existed on one of my accounts but whatever he thought he was doing it didn't solve the problem and charges for texts continued. The problem now appears to be fixed after speaking to another of your people who set the bill cap to zero.I discovered afterwards that any account holder can set the cap themselves from within the app so anyone out there having extra charges for these texts you know now what the solution is.

Hey there @Keithc, thank you for your response and letting our customers know. Setting the bill cap to £0.00 is 100% the way to stop any out of contract charges occuring for anything, and what we’d recommend if you wish to see no extra charges at any time.

Thanks,

Tyler

How about those who are trying to pay with their premium text?!

I'm trying to pay a premium service.

But is not working at all, I put it to max, half, min. Nothing 😡

Hi there @CptObviou5, we’re sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, Three UK don’t support every premium number, so that could be why it’s not working.

What is the number you’re trying to text please?

Have you also enabled premium features via the iD Mobile app/website?

Thanks,

Tyler

I've used the number on Three before and worked. Where to look for premium features?

Hi there @CptObviou5, no problem. To turn on premium features within the iD Mobile app, navigate to the "Plan" section, then "Manage your iD services", and toggle the desired features on or off.

Let us know how that goes.
