Hello

I travelled to Morocco on Friday, arrived in Marrakesh and quickly discovered that my data roaming didn’t cover.

I received the standard text at 18.41 informing me that I’ve started using chargeable services etc etc (my bad).

Then almost 30 seconds later I received a text that I’ve now used 80% of my credit limit.

Then almost instantly I’d used 100% of my £45 data roaming cap.

I then received another text telling me I’d used 80%… Three text messages within a minute at a cost of £45. Impressive.

In the meantime I’d been in Morocco for less than 5 minutes. I was still sat in the plane.

I then bought an add-on.

Can anyone explain what happened in those few minutes and if I can expect this expected charge to be reduced?

Thanks

Unfortunately we can’t always send the text the second that you’ve hit a certain threshold (Whether that be 80% or 100% credit limit), so it may seem like the messages all come through at the same time, our best recommendation to avoiding unwanted costs whilst roaming is to set the bill cap to £0.
