Can’t make or recive phone calls.

Hi community, the past week I can’t make calls but data and SMS works fine.

My phone is an iPhone 13 Pro Max I know there was a 3G shutoff but I don’t think this would affect me being in the north west area.

My partner has the same contract on an iPhone 11 and that works fine. Tried all troubleshooting steps found online apart from a replacement sim as I’m using an eSIM which I’ve had reset. My phone was on a ID 24 month contract and was paid off a few months ago.

Checked with ID live chat who couldn’t see any issues, I’m starting to think signing up to a 12 month sim has been a terrible idea. Hopefully this is a good enough reason to switch providers as it’s causing a few issues.

Beginning to think I should have stayed with EE and paid a little more. It’s shocking

It’s pretty confusing, idk if it’s just me or what could even be causing it. Not much else I can even try now 😭

Hi, You are correct in thinking the 3G shutoff wouldn’t affect you given that you have a iPhone 13 Pro Max. This device does support VoLTE on the iD Mobile network. Have you tried performing a Network Reset?

Hi, yes I tried this in settings, someone online said something about switching VoLTE on and off. I’m going to give this a go.

Tried to check for VoLTE but no option for me in iOS. Tried the network reset and still nothing. Has to be some sort of service issue if data and sms works. I say that but my partners works fine.

I tried an EE sim and all was fine by the way.

On an iPhone the option is normally enabled by default. Usually there is no option to enable or disable VoLTE on an iPhone but this might have changed since I last looked. Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data Options > Voice & Data

Edit: EE haven’t turned off their 3G network and they have 2G to fall back on if VoLTE isn’t enabled or supported.

I googled it and it said for iPhone 15 go to settings, iMessage, turn on and turn off again, switch phone off and on again. Just tried and it worked! Might be a  fluke!

Interesting I switched VOLTE off on my partners iPhone 11 and it’s doing the same thing as mine.

Yes, calls cannot be made or received over 4G/5G. You must have VoLTE enabled as calls go out over data (kind of like VoIP). In the past, if VoLTE wasn’t enabled and a call came in, or you tried to call out, the device falls back to 3G to complete the call. Now that 3G is being switched off, that is no longer possible.

When you put an EE SIM in your iPhone, does an option for VoLTE show up on your device? If so, make sure it’s enabled and then try removing the EE SIM and re-insert your iD Mobile SIM.

I can't receive calls or make calls either, I thought it was a hard ware issue on my phone but looks like a network issue. What is the solution I have a Samsung OnePlus 6 phone

Hey there @OscarRH24, @Michelle Davies & @Jan Griffiths, we’re sorry to hear you’re having issues with calls.

This is likely due to the 3G turn off that began rolling out last week. Please read more below on what this is, and what to do:

If you have one of the phones from the below list, then 4G Volte and Wi-Fi calling should be able to be selected and work, and calls should still work:

If you have a phone that isn’t on this list, then it may or may not work, but we don’t officially support any phones outside of these and cannot say for sure if it will or not.

If the issue persists after following the troubleshooting above and confirming if your phone is approved, then please let us know here so we can investigate further.

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi Tyler, my phone is a Samsung Oneplus A6003.

I can't see it on the list. But it has the facility for 2g 3g 4g.

I have an unlimited contract with you but if I cannot receive or name calls from this network.

Can I cancel the contract. Or is there away that my phone will start to make and receive calls again?

The iMessage solution above worked for me. Turning it off and on with a restart seemed to fix it for me.

You will have to buy a phone that supports VoLTE on the iD Mobile network. iD Mobile is providing you with a service, and it’s up to you to provide the hardware for use with that service.

Hi WelshPaul, don't think so mate, why should I pay out for a new phone. When I signed up to a contract that was sold as it would operate in any phone then a few months later my phone stops taking and receiving calls, ID Mobile have breached their terms and conditions as far as I am concerned and if people can't access the full range of services because of this then they need to releases people from their contract free of charge 😠

Same problem for me, no calls out, no calls in, everything else works fine. I've been using wattsapp for calls... what a joke 😤

What term have they breached exactly? Please let us all know the exact term as it will help others leave, penalty free too.

Regardless, you need to follow the complaints process:

At what point did it say that once the 3g mast will be switched off, you won't be able to make or receive calls on you phone due to a very poor network.? I don't think people would have signed up for that to happen, do you?

I have been this contract for six months now.then all of a sudden a cannot receive or make phone calls.
