I can’t make or receive calls. I have dial assist WiFi calling all on  I get text message to tell me I have a missed call but can’t call back or goes to voice mail

if I switch my phone off and back on I can make a call but then goes back to not able to make or receive calls

Resetting your devices network settings usually fixes this issue.

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings

Hi there @Milo123, sorry to hear that. How long have you had issues for? What phone do you have?

Thanks,

Tyler

I have WiFi on but doesn’t work with WiFi calling I’ve got 2 bars of signal but still can’t call out or receive calls

I just get text telling me I had missed call with the number that called or voicemail

which has been annoying as been waiting for call from Doctor  so I just phone up and see if the doctor has phone me yet !!!!!

Hi @Milo123  can you try the following troubleshooting as recommended by Apple?

1. Disable Wi-Fi Assist (if enabled):

  • Go to Settings > Cellular
  • Scroll down and turn off Wi-Fi Assist
  • This prevents the phone from switching to weak cellular networks automatically, which can interfere with Wi-Fi calling in low/no coverage areas.

2. Toggle Wi-Fi Calling Off and Back On:

  • Go to Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling
  • Turn Wi-Fi Calling off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on

3. Check Date & Time Settings:

  • Go to Settings > General > Date & Time
  • Ensure Set Automatically is enabled
  • Incorrect time sync may cause call routing issues over Wi-Fi.

4. Confirm VoLTE and Carrier Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Voice & Data
  • Make sure VoLTE is enabled (if supported by your carrier)
  • Some networks require VoLTE to properly route Wi-Fi calls.

5. Reinstall iOS via Finder/iTunes (optional advanced step):

If the issue persists, doing a clean install of iOS 18.5 via Finder (Mac) or iTunes (PC) may help resolve potential update-related software issues.

Please let us know how you get on.

Hi @Milo123

I’d recommend trying the above from @WelshPaul, that can fix a lot of common issues.

Please let us know how you get on.

If you’re able to make a call after switching off Wi-Fi, it sounds like your ISP or router is having an issue with Wi-Fi calling.

You mentioned in your above replies that you have it enabled?

Wi-Fi calling isn’t standardised across networks, as they all operate differently. They often use different ports and protocols. However, it’s rare for Wi-Fi calling to fail to work. I’ve only seen it fail a handful of times, often due to people using old routers or business-grade internet connections with strict firewall policies.

Make sure Wi-Fi calling is off:

Settings > Apps > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling > Off

This one should be on by default:

Settings > Apps > Phone > Dial Assist > On

Check you have signal and try making a call. Mobile number should start 07 and a landline 01 or 02.
