Mobile data as hotspot to watch TV

Hi everyone, moving to an area with poor broadband coverage. Only 3 providers suggested, two of which for mobile broadband only.

If on an unlimited mobile data plan, could I use my phone as a hotspot for the TV and watch that way?

Hey there ​@P_B_69, as kindly advised by ​@WelshPaul, you’ll definitely be able to use our hotspot for data and for the TV, however, we of course can’t promise how it’ll perform and will depend on the coverage in your area, along with other factors such as mentioned by ​@WelshPaul.

    You could, but it won’t be anywhere near as good FTTP.

    I appreciate that - thanks for getting in touch. I guess the question is will I be able to watch TV normally, for example, or is there going to be noticeable disruptions & freezing? ID Mobile coverage says excellent service for 4G. No gaming, just good old fashioned terrestrial TV & a bit of streaming (ie BBC iPlayer).

    Mobile data doesn’t offer a consistent data connection. So many factors come into play, such as congestion, weather, terrain, hardware etc. The only way to find out is to try it.
