My phone worked fully this afternoon but now it's not receiving or making calls again.  Please sort it. I’ll be leaving this network if this sh** continues.

Hey there @Ssantos, thank you for reaching out, and thank you @Decembersangel72 for your support.

I believe that 4G has VOTLE intertwined on iPhones and the VOLTE option doesn’t actually show up, as I believe most iPhones are now VOLTE enabled automatically.

Please can you try turn off iMessage, and restart your phone, and then attempt a call and see if this works?

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi @Ssantos

What phone do you have?

Have you checked the coverage for your area?
https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/coverage

Has the 3G signal been turned off in your area recently?

Is your handset on the approved list?
https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/approved-handsets

Can you still use your data and send/receive texts?

Do you have VoLTE (Voice over LTE) enabled on your phone as you need this to connect to the LTE (4G) network?

You could also try requesting a replacement SIM as this could be the problem.
Please be aware that your account will be put on hold (you will be unable to use that number) until the new SIM has been activated.

There are a few different ways to get a replacement SIM. Here’s everything you need to know:

How do I get a replacement SIM?

If your SIM card doesn't fit your phone, or it's been lost or stolen, you’ll need a replacement. To get a replacement SIM card, you can:

  • Visit any Currys store.

Find your nearest store and head to the ‘Mobile’ section. One of our helpful Tech Experts will issue you a replacement SIM card.

  • Chat to us.

Our Live Chat team are able to issue you a replacement SIM card, which will be sent in the post to the account holder’s address.

Once you receive your replacement SIM card, you’ll need to activate it. Check out the steps in the article below:

Hi,

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

yes, it looks like the 3G tower is off in my area but I am using 4G. Never had issues with WiFi calling until yesterday. Until this outage recent issues.

Data and texts work.

My area is bad for phone signal so I rely on WiFi call and never had issues until yesterday. I don’t want to turn off the WiFi since I need internet on the phone as well.

I’ve done all the usual things, turn on and off the phone, take the card off and put back, switch to plane mode and back on, etc.

this is a recent event that you guys must know.

regards

Hi @Ssantos

Even though you see 4G as the phones connection you need to connect to the LTE network (AKA VoLTE - Voice over LTE). 4G is only the label given to the 4th Generation phone signal whereas the type of network being used is LTE.
Here is a link for an iPhone 11 Pro Max to show you how to check if you have VoLTE enable on your handset (I’m assuming the 12 Pro Max and 11 Pro Max are similar enough to point you in the right direction to check this).
https://deviceguides.vodafone.co.uk/apple/iphone-11-pro-max-ios-17/calls-and-contacts/turn-volte-on-or-off/

Data and texts will still work without VoLTE being enabled but you definitely need it to make/receive calls.

There is also this advice for checking problems with Wifi-calling on your phone…
https://deviceguides.vodafone.co.uk/apple/iphone-12-ios-17/troubleshooting/calls-and-contacts/i-can-t-use-wi-fi/77/

Also, from what I can determine, Wifi-calling will only connect if the normal signal is very weak/non existant. It may be that your phone is trying to connect to 4G.

If all else fails then contact the Live Chat as they may be able to sort this out for you. Type ‘talk to a person’ in the box to bypass the ‘how can I help you’ questions. Please be aware that advisers will be handling more than one chat at a time and may take some time to initially connect to/reply to your chat.

Good luck and let us know how you get on x
