phone coverage in Winchester

I’ve just started visiting Winchester town centre on a regular basis (SO237DD). I am not getting a phone signal, my phone just shows the satellite symbol for emergencies. Outside of Winchester the signal is fine. Anybody else experienced this? My phone is a new iPhone 16e.

Sorry to hear this, are you able to try manually switching to 4G instead of 5G whilst in this area to see if this helps? The area generally looks a lot better for 4G, 5G doesn’t appear to be available.

 

How long have you had these issues in SO23 7DD?

Looks like the network operator (VodafoneThree) has an issue at this location, ​@Rob A.

@Tom - I’ll try your suggestion of switching to manual. This will be tomorrow. First had the problem in Winchester last Friday and again Monday.

@andewhite - thanks, yes I got that message from network status. But also got the same message when I put my home postcode in where I get very good 4G coverage. Weird.

Well things have improved a little in Winchester. In the High St my phone showed a good 4G signal, but trying to access the internet fast.com was showing speed of 300kbps! Pretty useless really. My wife and I went into a cafe. I got no signal at all. My wife, who uses Smarty, got a perfect 4G signal, and Smarty also use the 3 network. No idea what’s going on.

@Tyler C …hi. The postcode mentioned above (so237dd) is a car park near the centre of Winchester. Signal there was good enough to use ringgo for the parking, which it wasn’t 2 days ago. My comments in my last posting that you are referring to are in Winchester High St SO23 9AS.

@Tyler C …just to add to that, the distance between those two postcodes is just under half a mile. And my wife’s phone on Smarty was also getting under 1 mbps using fast.com, but better than I got in the high st.

Thank you for confiming ​@Rob A. As mentioned above by ​@andewhite, Three UK are currently working on fixing an issue in both of these two areas/postcodes at the moment. We're sorry for any disruption this may be causing.

 

We hope to have things fixed as soon as possible and will add any updates here.

Therefore, we’d unfortunately expect weaker signal here in the mean-time whilst this is being worked on.

This issue is continuing.  I couldn’t get a signal yesterday or today

There is still a problem in Winchester, even outside the centre of town.
