Question

cant receive calls or text messages

Hi so I changed from smarty to I’d and wanted to keep my number however on change day and after replaced 2nd sim for id I still can’t receive phone calls or SMS text , I can call after I turn WiFi off and my correct number shows I’m calling but no one can call me or text me, iMessage works and Apple confirmed all settings correct. I’m tempted to give phone back and leave as now 3 days without a usable phone.

Does your iPhone show the correct number in settings?

Sometimes, your iPhone might not have the correct mobile number saved. Don’t worry, though! Follow the steps below to check it, and if needed, update it:

  1. Open ‘Settings’.

  2. Tap ‘Apps’.

  3. Tap ‘Phone’.

  4. Tap ‘My Number’.

  5. Enter your mobile number, using +44 instead of the first 0.

  6. Tap ‘Save’.

Also try doing a forced restart on your device.

Thanks for that and yes I’ve done all of that and checked settings with Apple, its ids bit to sort but they just aren’t sorting it.

Could be a split port issue - which means when you make calls or send SMS it shows your ported number but when someone tries to send you a SMS or call it fails as the other network hasn’t released your number correctly or something has gone wrong when porting. If you have tried all the above I suggest you use the iD online Live Chat service, to speak to a customer adviser @sharonp123

The advisers work until 8pm on weekdays - just tell the 24/7 chatbot you’d like to “talk to a person”.

Update -

Number should have been sent over on Monday 3rd request pac was 28th Feb obviously weekend don’t count but it’s now 7th March still can’t receive calls or SMS texts thus impact is crazy , can’t access on line banking, can’t access door bell , basically anything with a onetime pass code sent to my mobile number, also my work phone!!!

Online chat don’t help and when I ring complaints to see where tech team are up to they tell me it’s working! I can 100% confirm it’s not so they say another 24 hours …..

speaking to others who have had similar probs it seams  three is the conman denominator, anyone trying to port number over which was three or company that uses three (so mine was smarty )these issues happen.

i don’t want to change my number and if it’s not sorted today nothing will happen over the weekend, how long will this take.

yes all the phone settings are correct.

yes my number is showing correct.

i can receive iMessage and I can make a call and my number displays correct but when people try to ring it says number not available.

Having to use landline and what’s app is not a permanent solution.
