Dropped your phone or noticed a glitch? We know it’s a nightmare, but don’t panic. Whether it’s a manufacturing fault or accidental damage, here is how to get it sorted:

Is it a manufacturing fault?

If your phone stops working through no fault of your own (e.g. software glitches, screen unresponsive without cracks), it’s likely covered by the manufacturer's warranty. This usually lasts for 12 months.

I bought my phone directly from iD Mobile:

I bought from Carphone Warehouse, Mobiles.co.uk, or e2save:

  • Please contact the retailer you bought the phone from directly. They will advise you on their specific repair or returns process.

Please note: We don’t currently offer repairs for Motorola phones. Please contact Motorola Support directly for assistance.

Is it accidental damage?

If you’ve dropped your phone, cracked the screen, or dropped it in water, this isn’t covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

  • Check your insurance: If you have phone insurance, contact your provider to make a claim.
  • Book a paid repair: You can still get your phone fixed at Currys or an independent repair shop, but you will need to pay for the repair yourself.

Before you send your phone for repair.

To make sure your repair goes smoothly and you don’t lose any precious photos, please do the following before handing your phone over:

  1. Back up your data: Repairs often involve wiping the device. Make sure your photos, contacts, and messages are backed up to the cloud (iCloud for iPhone, Google Drive for Android).
  2. Remove security locks: Turn off 'Find My iPhone' (Apple) or 'Find My Device' (Android) and remove any PINs or passcodes. Technicians can't fix your phone if they can't get into it!
  3. Remove your SIM and Memory Card: Keep these safe with you. You can use your SIM in a spare phone while yours is away.
