I am in US and have contacted customer service to get access to my paid add on roaming. It doesn't work.

Looking at other posts here, about the Roam Beyond data only add-on, it seems hit-and-miss as to whether or not it works,
If you’re still in the US, a data-only eSIM with a US travel plan might be a better option.
iD will usually refund a Roam Beyond add-on after it has expired - if the add-on data allowance was completely unused.
