No data or calls connection while in France

We are in France. My daughter has a Poco C65 with ID SIM. We set everything up before our travels eg roaming activated etc yet still cannot connect to data network. Have tried new APN, network tools reset, manual network select but each time phone states it is disconnected from network.

Also cannot make calls or texts unless tethered to another phones network connection. This is our second trip (last time in Easter) when we thought it was a handset update. That's all been completed with all apps updated too. Still no connectivity to ID network. Any recommendations please? Thanks.

Hi there @tillwoo, thank you for reaching out. Firstly, the Poco C65 device isn’t officially supported on our network, therefore, some features may not work, included data, calls or texts. Please find approved devices below:

Therefore, it’d be difficult to troubleshoot on a device we don’t support, as we’d expect it to potentially not work at all with our network. Unfortunately, our only advice would be to purchase and use a device that’s listed on the link above, to use our network and all our features.

Thanks,

Tyler

That is rather frustrating as no-one has ever stated this since we purchased the phone in November last year.

Could you share where the list of compatible or supported hones is available please?

Sadly means we will need to cancel our ID mobile contracts as we specifically wanted a network we could manage the whole family with.

Thanks

Her phone works perfectly well in UK but just not when we travel.

Hey there @tillwoo, sorry to hear that. If you haven’t contacted us previously asking if the phone is compatible, then we’d have no way of knowing you’re using an supported phone, unless we were asked, as we of course don’t sell the phone ourselves due to it not being compatible, otherwise, of course we’d have made it known earlier. Our apporved handset list can be found here:

If you do have to leave because of this, then of course we understand and wish you the best. If you can however purchase one of the phone’s on the list above, it should work great.

In terms of it working in the UK, that’s great if it does! However, for unsupported phones, we can only advise that it may or may not work I’m afraid.

If you’d like, I can advise normal troubleshooting methods for roaming to see if they help at all? But if they don’t, then this is likely the reasoning.

Thanks,

Tyler

This isn't helpful. When we acquired the handset and registered the SIM (esp with the specific type of SIM ordered) why weren't we advised then? When the SIM arrived I wasn't informed which phone I should get?

If the phone works on iD Mobile here in the UK then roaming should work too.

What roaming networks did you connect to?

The networks iD Mobile have a roaming agreement with in France are: Societe Francaise Du Radiotelephone, Bouygues, Orange, Free Mobile. I’m not familiar with the Poco C65. If the device works here in the UK, the APN settings must be configured correctly. Does it have an option to enable Data Roaming within the device settings? On an iPhone it can be found at Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data Options > Data Roaming > On/Off

Yes I tried the prescribed APN l, created a new one even, but still isn't connecting for calls or data. Oddly it shows as registered to those networks and has a good 2-3bar signal showing. We first thought this was a SIM update or handset setup problem but have since reset phone and all network settings to no avail. Thank you for your help - much appreciated.

I found this YouTube Video that discusses enabling roaming on the Poco C65.

Great find! So we get to this menu but phone isn't permitting us to activate international roaming (specifically) but when we do click on roaming is just states 'Roaming not enabled'. We set this to enabled before travelling and reset it whilst here in France. Still no change. Might try another hard reset.

I’m wondering if the option is unavailable because your connected to a foreign network already. Was this device purchased SIM free or supplied by another network?

I googled and got the following result:

If data roaming is greyed out on your Android phone, it likely means mobile data is disabled. To enable data roaming, you must first activate mobile data. Go to your phone's settings, find the "Connections" or "Network" section, then "Mobile data," and toggle it on. Once mobile data is enabled, the data roaming option should become available for you to toggle on or off

To enable data on the Poco C65 navigate to Settings > SIM cards & mobile networks > select your SIM > toggle Mobile data on

This area isn't though. Just appears as though the link doesn't work and pop up msg keeps appearing stating not connected to Network.

We definitely have mobile data on as it works in UK
