Why am i being charged roaming fee's when I haven't left the country?

Reviewed my latest bill to see an additional Rest of World roaming charge of £20.83, I haven’t even left the country since February which is very bizarre.

Anyone had this problem?

Whilst this is helpful to prevent this from happening in the future, and I appreciate the advice from @WelshPaul - it is utterly ridiculous that this is even possible to do so whilst being in the UK.

I hope that you will be in touch to remove these charges from my bill. If I am charged I will be looking to leave ID mobile as soon as possible.

This isn’t unique to iD Mobile. The same issue occurs on all networks worldwide when roaming is enabled on both your device and mobile account.

You’re lucky it’s such a low amount, to be honest. If you had used 1GB of data, your bill would have been £9,600 plus line rental.

As I’ve mentioned before, disable roaming and set a zero bill cap until you travel abroad. When roaming, manually connect to a network instead of letting your device choose automatically. If you do this you won’t get any unexpected charges on your future bills.

You don’t need to leave the country to roam on another network. By configuring your account and phone correctly, you can avoid such issues.

1. Set your bill cap to zero

2. Turn off roaming on your device and at an account level.

Hi there @Trxss42, we hope the kind advice from @WelshPaul has been able to help. If you were out at sea, or near the sea in the UK, you can sometimes connect to the maritime (ships) network, which is chargeable.

We’d recommend following the steps above sent by @WelshPaul to avoid this in the future whilst in the UK.

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi there @Trxss42, we’d be happy to credit this to your bill as a gesture of goodwill in this instance with advice on how to stop this in the future, however, if this were to happen again given the advice, we’d be unable to credit it in the future. I hope that’s okay.
