cant get rid of twmp phone number

This is just the worst transfer procedure ever!
Massive problem. Ordered iPhone 16 pro max(wanted to keep my iPhone XR but it was dying) Sent PAC number to id. Giff gaff said all done. So on settings my phone still says this iPhone phone number is the temp one is sent. Apple seem to think the temp number is my main number. I wanted the temp number so I can use my old number. I have SIM card which was posted to me which I set up quickly. . I can’t phone people on normal phone nor they me. My pics emails etc have all been transferred over ok to my phone. I’d don’t seem to totally recognise my old phone number. I am not tech savvy but this is the worst. What’s app calls and messenger works ok.  When my phone rings my old xr still rings so have turned it off. Won’t connect to my car at all which is usually a simple process. It won’t let me do loads. Getting very stressed and want to throw in the bin. Does anyone have any ideas please please?

Hey there @TILLYBunty, we’re sorry to hear that.

Please try the following:

1) Turn off iMessage (Settings > Messages)
2) Restart your phone (by pressing and holding the on/off button)
3) Tap Settings > Phone > My Number and confirm that it is correct.
4) If it is not correct, please enter the correct number
5) Turn iMessage back to On (Settings > Messages)
6) Finally, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and see if the correct number is displayed under "Start new conversations from:"

If you are having issues with step 4 please reset network settings and try again.

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Thank you,

Tyler

Hi Tyler, thank you so much for your response.  Unfortunately when I type in my old phone number that I want to keep there is a SAVE toggle highlighted in blue. When I press it nothing happens and my temporary remains on Apple device info.  People can phone me on the number I had at giff gaff which I want to keep. However everything says the temporary remains number. When I phone out it is my old number which shows up.  I just can’t rid of the temp number. I am scared if I press reset network I will lose all my photos notes voice notes etc and emails. Will that happen.?  My old phone the xr is the best I had, massive regrets for getting this iphone max pro and using id esp as I just can’t speak to someone.  This is stressing me out so much as much of my phone content is sentimental value. Please please help me 😁

Hey there @TILLYBunty, sorry to hear that.

Please can you try the steps I said again, in the same order, but whilst doing these steps, please try in these two different ways:

  1. With the phone in flight mode
  2. With the SIM outside the phone

Thanks,

Tyler
