should I register my new phone BEFORE or AFTER my number is ported over?

It was better to get a new id contract than to upgrade so I did BUT I have to keep my number. As you cannot swap numbers id to id I had to move my old number to EE PAYG then back to ID. Do I need to register my account with the new number I was given or wait until the number I want is ported over?????

As kindly suggested by ​@andewhite, there is no right or wrong answer, although personally, I’d also recommend waiting until your port has completed to register your account with us, to avoid any slight possible issues.

    In theory it shouldn’t matter, ​@curlysue86. 

    It might be better to register after the number you’re keeping has switched back to your new iD account and everything’s working properly.
