Set phone to FaceTime seems to have solved issue but is there something else in settings I need to change to enable ‘phone’ setting? 

Out of interest Andy is your iPhone SE a 1st gen (2016) or a 2nd gen (2020)?

The reason for asking is because this recently modified iD phone compatibility list now states only the iPhone SE 2022 (3rd gen) is compatible. I’m merely relaying what that list states

My mistake it’s the XR !

Assuming your iPhone XR device is running iOS 18, have you checked the number shown in Settings > Apps > Phone, ​@AJH44?

Could you please check your number in the settings as suggested by ​@andewhite ?

The number will need to begin with +44 and not a 0 if possible.

Are you able to pop your SIM in to another handset to test if calls are received?

This will help identify if it is a SIM or handset issue.
