So you have an existing iD number on a physical SIM and you have taken out another iD number on an eSIM. Is that correct?
Yes that is correct MZone
You will need to get a PAC code for the number you want to keep and port it to another network PAYG. The day after the number ports your need to get another PAC code from the new network and then port back to iD.
Hey there @Fsh, as kindly advised by @MZone, the only way to transfer your number would be via a triangle port, where you transfer your number from your current/old contract to a PAYG contract on another network, then back to us via PAC code to your new plan.
You cannot transfer your number directly from one iD Mobile plan to another I’m afraid.
Thanks,
Tyler
Hello,
is this still the case as of September 2025?
I understand correctly that we have to:
- Buy a Pay-As-You-Go contract with another provider
- Request the current number to be transferred to the PAYG contract
- Buy another ID Mobile plan (what happens to the current one? are we obliged to keep paying until the end?) and request an eSim
- Request another transfer of the number to the eSim ID Mobile
Is that what you call a “triangle port”?
Hello @GiusArg
That is the correct process for a triangle port.
Once the number is ported out to another provider, the plan associated with the number will be deactivated.

Deactivated means that I still have to pay it until expires? Or that I’ll need to pay the outstanding balance of the plan at once?
Hi there @GiusArg, you’ll be liable to pay for line-rental for the time the line remains active with us. Your final bill will be shown and ready within 48-hours of disconnecting.
Thanks,
Tyler

Hi Tyler,
Sorry, but it seems as if we are skirting around the real issue, here.
Let’s make an example: let’s say that I have a contract which has 1 year to expiry and I decide to buy a phone that only has eSIM (or I just want to switch to eSIM), while at the same time I want to remain with ID Mobile.
You are saying that the only way of switching to eSIM is:
- end my current contract with IDMobile and paying the outstanding 1 year in full
- buying a temporary PAYG with another provider
- request my current number to be transferred to the new provider
- buying another IDMobile plan with eSIM
- request a new transfer of the number to IDMobile
Do you realise how costly, unnecessarily complicated and essentially punitive is this for your customers?
Is there a regulation which forces you to do that, in other words it’s something out of your control?
Are you technically incapable of just transferring the plan to the eSIM without those extra movements and without overcharging your customers?
Or… are you just doing that out of spite towards your customers, to milk extra money from them?
Hello,
Transferring one’s phone number from the physical SIM to an eSIM while remaining in the same IdMobile contract is perfectly possible.
Why do you say that we need to do a “triangle port”?
I have gone to my account, requested a replacement eSIM (even if I wasn't using an eSIM), I have received a QR code via email and followed the simple procedure and in a few minutes the eSIM has been activated (of course the phone must be compatible). Then from the settings I can choose if I want to use the physical or the eSIM (or even both and choosing one as primary). I have disabled the physical as a test and my number has been associated to the eSIM. I can swap them as often as I want.
A customer service operator in the help chat has confirmed that I have effectively activated my eSIM.
So why do you say that we need that “triangle port”?
Hey there @GiusArg, our apologies, I think all the above has been confused as you orginally asked us about a triangle port, so we instantly presumed you meant that you were wanting to order a new contract with us, and perform a triangle port.
Yes, you can simply switch from a physical SIM to an eSIM on the same contract and phone numbr following the process you’ve mentioned above, via the iD Mobile app/website, and this costs nothing to change.
Our apologies for the confusion regarding the triangle port above, as we thought you were asking about a triangle port or normal port, not just simply changing to eSIM from physical SIM.
Thanks,
Tyler
Hi @Tyler C ,
I appreciate that there could be confusion because on my side, I was trying to understand how to activate an eSIM while remaining in the same contract and the same number, while the OP in this thread was asking to transfer a number between two ID contracts.
Thanks.
No worries @GiusArg glad we got there in the end.
