Unfortunately ​@Laura Watson, a PAC can only be used to switch a mobile number between different service providers.

You cannot transfer a number from one iD account, to another iD account.

There are two options:

• Switch the number you want to keep to another service provider, and then switch it back to the iD contract you want to keep. It’s a faff and will take several days or more to complete.
• End your new iD contract in the cooling off period, and upgrade your SIM only plan instead.

• I purchased a new contract, with a new iD mobile number instead of an upgrade. What should I do? F.A.Q.

As ​@andewhite suggests, you wouldn’t be able to move a number from iD Mobile to iD Mobile directly.

If you’re already with iD Mobile and want to retain a number, we’d recommend processing an upgrade, not a new line.

Thanks both.  The offers for upgrades unfortunately were more expensive which is disappointing so I will just endure a little hassle moving the number around instead. 

Okay ​@Laura Watson, I’d recommend making sure the number you want to keep works properly with your short-term/temporary service provider, before getting a PAC to switch back to your ‘new’ iD account.
