I have a Redmi note 15. An esim iD. It's connected and the esim is working (it is currently the secondary SIM with the old provider O2 in the primary slot). Since I received the SIM the WiFi calling has been greyed out. Can anyone help?

That phone isn’t on the iD Mobile approved handset list. Since you’re using an eSIM, try a physical SIM.

    Hi @MeMark ,

I’m really sorry you’re having this issue, I understand how important Wi-Fi Calling is for staying connected.

With iD Mobile, Wi-Fi Calling may appear greyed out if the network has not fully enabled the feature on your line or if the phone settings are not correctly prioritising the eSIM profile.

Please try these steps on your Redmi Note 15:

Make sure the iD Mobile eSIM is selected as the primary SIM for calls
Go to Settings → SIM Cards & Mobile Networks → Wi-Fi Calling and check if it can be enabled
Turn Airplane Mode ON → Turn Wi-Fi ON → Try enabling Wi-Fi Calling again
Restart your phone after checking settings
Ensure your phone software is updated to the latest version

If Wi-Fi Calling is still greyed out, please send us a private message with your mobile number and postcode, and we will check whether Wi-Fi Calling is activated on your account.

Thanks @WelshPaul . Do you know if I can have a physical SIM and an eSIM at the same time?

Thanks @WelshPaul . Do you know if I can have a physical SIM and an eSIM at the same time?

No, that’s not possible. An eSIM profile comprises various settings and since your device isn’t on the approved list it’s likely the eSIM isn’t fully compatible. Therefore, switching to a physical SIM is worth a try.

was this sorted as i am having the same issue it not my handset it the network

Wi-Fi Calling Restriction: Inform them that because their network profile intentionally restricts the phone from using Wi-Fi Preferred calling so even if you can turn it on it calling option is set to network fist and you can not change it due to the network

    Hi @Portor25,

    Thanks for sharing this.

If the issue is specifically related to Wi-Fi Calling preferring the mobile network over Wi-Fi, there's unfortunately no setting on iD Mobile that allows customers to switch between "Wi-Fi Preferred" and "Mobile Network Preferred" modes.

    What you can try is:

    • Ensure Wi-Fi Calling is enabled on the handset.
    • Restart the phone.
    • Reset your network settings.
    • Test with Airplane Mode enabled and Wi-Fi turned back on. If Wi-Fi Calling works in this scenario, it suggests the feature itself is working.
    • Ensure your phone software is fully up to date.

If you've already confirmed that Wi-Fi Calling is enabled and the issue persists across different locations and Wi-Fi networks, we'd recommend contacting our Customer Service Team via Live Chat and asking for the issue to be investigated further.

    Hi Gemma

i have tried everything you said it your network i contacted your team said they would get technical team to call me and no one has all i got yesterday was a texts saying my issue been resolved when it has not

    • It is intentional carrier policy: iD Mobile (which operates as a MVNO on the UK Three network) deliberately pushes a network profile to Android that hard-codes Wi-Fi Calling to a "Mobile Preferred" state. They hide the menu layout so customers cannot override it. [1]
    • Their official stance: When users post on the iD Mobile forums complaining that they can't set their prefer Wi-Fi, customer support representatives simply tell them to use "Airplane Mode" as a workaround. They do not plan to release a software update to unhide the preference menu. [1, 2, 3]

I live in an area with bad signal i barely get 1 bar reception in my home i am a widowed parent and my kids need to be able to get hold of me. i will be contacting you complaints team to try and leave the network.,

spent ages talking to your chat 24/7 and for them to say someone for the tech team will call me and then they do not and send a random text message saying it been sorted when it has not. please see my photos i get one bar reception. you

network taking away the option to set WIFI calling setting to change it to WIFI first instead of network wrong. i know it not my phone as i tried other sim card some other networks in my phone and the option is there it just your network. i wish i stayed on o2 now not even a customer service number to call

    Thanks
