ported number no showing on outgoing texts

Ported my number out from id then back again (new contract). Now when I text people it's still received showing the old temporary number. Phone show ported number in settings and ID account shows same.

 

I have restarted phone (Samsung S24) several times and rest network settings - any 💡.

 

Phone number was ported a couple of days ago..

Hi ​@Paul Brinkman,

Welcome to the Community!

Please can you try the below:

1) Open Messages, go to Settings (top right, Message Settings), open "Chat Features" or "RCS Chats", verify if this is the correct number or not.

2) If it shows the incorrect one, then head to: https://messages.google.com/disable-chat and you should be able to unregister the number. Once done, turn off the Chat Features/RCS and the phone. Wait a few minutes and turn the device back on and re-enable Chat Features/RCS it should let you re-register/update to the correct number.

Alternatively, you can turn Chat Features/RCS off and test SMS after this.

Hi Kash

I have the same issue as above work samsung s21 ultra. I have followed the instructions . So sms is working OK but rcs chats is still showing original sim card number I've went to the link to change number in Google messages and turned phone off but still not changing over

Have you tried restarting your phone, and also resetting network settings?

Hi Tyler

First I don't have any updates available yes I went into network and double checked I'm on id. I have also went into Google account and confirmed my correct number I've followed all instructions to change and add the correct number but no joy.  Sms is sending from correct number but rcs is not I've also been able to turn rcs on and catch the verify button which allows you to input the correct number then wait a while turn phone off but when I restart it defaults to the sim number.

Hi yes I've reset network settings everything else is fine I've went back into Google account and deleted the actual number from sim so that is only the correct number available from Google but no joy

Hi I have now managed again to catch verify number button on reset and this time it has changed to the correct number.
