Hi, I have received numerous calls today saying my number has been used to call pensioners and try to scam them, is there anything you can do about this? Call me about this

Hi @Matthew McCann , is your SIM card/services currently working as normal? We ask to rule out a case of SIM card fraud.

We’ll also shortly send you a Private Message to your Community account, so we can discuss your issue further.

To access your messages, click your profile picture in the top right hand corner and then click ‘Private Messages’.

Alternatively, if you are currently logged in, you can use the following link: https://community.idmobile.co.uk/inbox/overview

We’ll see you there.

Hi @Matthew McCann

The first thing you need to do is to contact iD Mobile ASAP as they should be able to help you with regards to this. It may mean changing your number but even this will not guarantee it won’t happen again.

Change your voicemail message to alert callers to the scam.

Also, report this at https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

Unfortuanately not much can be done as fraudsters are becoming very innovative with their scams and how they are carried out x

I have had the same issue this morning, the woman who called was really quite upset.  They had called her landline using my number (I assume the number is fiddled somehow and its just a front).

I contacted the online chat and complaints line, neither understood the problem and said I should block the callers and there was nothing they could do. Maybe that is the case, but a procedure for customers in this position would be helpful.  I feel like I’m in the wild west on my own with no support.

Please does anyone have any advice on how to try and sort this out?  I am worried about having my name and my works name associated with this.

Hey there @Ceebs, we’re very sorry to hear that.

Firstly, in terms of a scam caller, there’s not much we can do our end in terms of blocking or stopping these from happening. All we can do is advise to block them when you receive them, or ignore them, or hang up immediately when you recognise one and don’t give any details to them.

However, a further step you can take would be to report this to action fraud here:

https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

Thanks,

Tyler
