Let's get down to business, to defeat the Huns
Did they send me daughters, when I asked for sons?
You're the saddest bunch I ever met
But you can bet before we're through
Mister, I'll make a man out of you
Tranquil as a forest but on fire within
Once you find your center, you are sure to win
You're a spineless, pale, pathetic lot
And you haven't got a clue
Somehow I'll make a man out of you
I'm never gonna catch my breath
Say goodbye to those who knew me
Boy, was I a fool in school for cutting gym
This guy's got 'em scared to death
Hope he doesn't see right through me
Now I really wish that I knew how to swim
Be a man
We must be swift as the coursing river
Be a man
With all the force of a great typhoon
Be a man
With all the strength of a raging fire
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon
Time is racing toward us till the Huns arrive
Heed my every order and you might survive
You're unsuited for the rage of war
So pack up, go home, you're through
How could I make a man out of you?
Be a man
We must be swift as the coursing river
Be a man
With all the force of a great typhoon
Be a man
With all the strength of a raging fire
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon
Be a man
We must be swift as the coursing river
Be a man
With all the force of a great typhoon
Be a man
With all the strength of a raging fire
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon

Eye of the Tiger - Survivor

Because .... I'm Rising up, straight to the top
Had the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I'm not gonna stop
Just a (wo)man and her will to survive 😉

I could listen to it FOREVER because I can relate, like I bet millions of others can ( super popular song ) to the lyrics .... Every single time I've listened to it and I remember it from when I was knee high it gives me a music high and never gets boring. Its the sort of song that when you're working out it pushes you that extra 100 miles!!!!!

Don't stop me now by Queen. It's got the pace to get you pumped during your workout and a built in rest period at the end to rest between sets.

So many to choose from but the stand out song for me would be Walking on the Moon by the Police...

The lyrics are motivational enough to push me through because I run as if everyone's watching me and I therefore can't just stop...the beat is also just about right for my step pattern...slowly but surely which, whilst not the exact musical descriptor fits my style to a T!! And the ending is a fantastic link to the start...repeating 'Keep it up' linking back to 'Giant steps are what you take'...

Giant steps are what you take
Walking on the moon
I hope my legs don't break
Walking on the moon

We could walk forever
Walking on the moon
We could live together
Walking on, walking on the moon

Walking back from your house
Walking on the moon
Walking back from your house
Walking on the moon

Feet they hardly touch the ground
Walking on the moon
My feet don't hardly make no sound
Walking on, walking on the moon

Some may say
I'm wishing my days away
No way
And if it's the price I pay
Some say
Tomorrow's another day
You stay
I may as well play
Giant steps are what you take
Walking on the moon
I hope my legs don't break
Walking on the moon
We could walk forever
Walking on the moon
We could be together
Walking on, walking on the moon
Some may say
I'm wishing my days away
No way
And if it's the price I pay
Some say
Tomorrow's another day
You stay
I may as well play
Keep it up, keep it up, keep it up, keep it up, keep it up....

The Whole of the Moon - The Waterboys - i always really liked this song and sounds uplifting when running. Then randomly when I applied to rent a house in Hertfordshire, the lead drummer rocked up to give me the keys. I told him I really liked the song and he invited me to go to one of his gigs and join the band backstage.
I always remember that when running now 🙂

It's got to be 4'33" (four minutes and 33 seconds) by John Cage.

If you've not come across this track before then it is four minutes and thirty three seconds of silence. The perfect soundtrack to work out to!

Bat out of Hell - Meatloaf
The rhythm is fast so keeps me going and the words are beautiful as they are more romantic than the title may suggest.
I run so the image of me as a Bat out of Hell is hilarious (I don't run fast) but if I keep going and listening to this I might. If the revving of the motorbike doesn't get the legs going it is a bad day.
It is about making the most of things too and life means that you should make the most of it by enjoying exercise, tech and food, working off the food to the sounds of this gives it a great circular feel.
Great song, great workout.
