If you’re currently abroad and unable to Roam, don’t panic! Follow the steps in this guide to get back on track:

 

What do I need to do?

 

Tap ‘Learn More’ and follow the steps for the phone you’re using:


I’m using an iPhone.

  1. Turn off ‘Airplane Mode’.

It’s an obvious one, but it’s a good place to start. If you’ve done the right thing and turned on airplane mode when you set off on your journey, don’t forget to switch it back off! Here’s how:

  1. Open ‘Settings’.
  2. Set the ‘Airplane Mode’ toggle to OFF

 

  1. Enable Roaming.

You need to check that Roaming is enabled on your iD Mobile plan AND in your phone settings. To enable Roaming in the iD Mobile app or My Account Online, you can:

  1. Open the iD Mobile app or log-in to My Account Online.
  2. Tap ‘Plan’.
  3. Scroll down.
  4. Tap ‘Manage your iD services’.
  5. Enable the ‘Roaming’ & ‘International’ toggles.

Then on your iPhone, you can:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap ‘Mobile Services’.
  3. Tap ‘Mobile Data Options’.
  4. Check that ‘Data Roaming’ toggle is turned on.

 

  1. Force restart your iPhone.

The classic switch it off and switch it back on again. If you’re unsure how to force restart your iPhone, please refer to this Apple Support article.

  1. Manually select a network.

Check out the ‘Full list of international roaming partners.’ section in the article below to find out which network/s you can manually select:

 

 

To manually connect to a network, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap Mobile Service’.

  3. Tap ‘Network Selection'.

  4. Turn off the ‘Automatic toggle’.

  5. Select one of our partner networks (see table).
  6. That’s it! Your iPhone should now connect to the network.

  1. Perform a Network Settings Reset.

As a last resort, perform a Network Settings Reset on your iPhone. Here’s how:

  1. Open ‘Settings’.

  2. Tap ‘General’.

  3. Tap ‘Transfer or Reset iPhone’.

  4. Tap ‘Reset’.

  5. Select ‘Reset Network Settings’.

  6. Enter your passcode, then tap ‘Reset Network Settings’.

 

Please note: Resetting network settings will erase saved Wi-Fi networks and VPN settings. After the reset, you will need to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords and configure any other network settings as needed.

 

If you’re still unable to Roam, contact us for further support.

 

I’m using a Samsung Galaxy.

  1. Turn off ‘Airplane Mode’.

  1. Open ‘Settings’.
  2. Tap ‘Connections’.
  3. Tap ‘Airplane Mode’.
  4. Set the ‘Airplane Mode’ toggle to OFF.

 

  1. Enable Roaming.

You need to check that Roaming is enabled on your iD Mobile plan AND in your phone settings. To enable Roaming in the iD Mobile app or My Account Online, you can:

  1. Open the iD Mobile app or log-in to My Account Online.
  2. Tap ‘Plan’.
  3. Scroll down.
  4. Tap ‘Manage your iD services’.
  5. Enable the ‘Roaming’ & ‘International’ toggles.

Then on your phone, you can:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap ‘Connections’.
  3. Tap ‘Mobile Networks’.
  4. Check that ‘Data Roaming’ toggle is turned on.

 

  1. Check your APN settings.

All phones bought from us should arrive with the right settings already configured. But if you’ve moved over to iD Mobile on a SIM Only Deal and kept your old phone, you may need to review the settings to get things like Roaming to work. Our network (APN) settings are listed below:

  1. Force restart your phone.

  1. Perform a Network Settings Reset.

As a last resort, perform a Network Settings Reset on your iPhone. Here’s how:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap ‘General management’.

  3. Tap ‘Reset’.

  4. Tap ‘Reset network settings’.

  5. ‘Tap ‘Reset settings’.

  6. Enter your PIN, password or pattern.

  7. Tap ‘Reset’ to confirm.

 

Please note: Resetting network settings will erase saved Wi-Fi networks and VPN settings. After the reset, you will need to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords and configure any other network settings as needed.

Most other Android phones.

As a last resort, perform a Network Settings Reset on your iPhone. Here’s how:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap ‘System’.

  3. Tap ‘Reset options’.

  4. Tap ‘Reset mobile network settings’.

  5. Tap ‘Reset settings’

 

Please note: Resetting network settings will erase saved Wi-Fi networks and VPN settings. After the reset, you will need to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords and configure any other network settings as needed.
