Arrived abroad and can't connect? Don't panic. Most roaming issues can be fixed in a few minutes. Follow these steps in order to get back online.
First, check your destination is supported. Iran and Syria aren't currently supported for any international or roaming services on iD Mobile, whatever phone or settings you use.
There are also a small number of other countries where our network partner doesn't have a roaming agreement in place. Check our list of unsupported destinations before working through the steps below.
Step 1 - Check your iD Mobile account.
Before checking your phone settings, we need to make sure your account is set up to allow roaming. You can do this via the iD Mobile app or my.idmobile.co.uk.
- Enable Roaming on your plan:
- Go to Plan > Manage your iD services.
- Make sure the Roaming toggle is ON.
- If you plan to make calls, ensure the International toggle is also ON.
- Check your destination and your Bill Cap:
- Our 50 Inclusive Roaming destinations let you use your plan's minutes, texts and data (up to 30GB) at no extra cost.
- Travelling somewhere else? Check whether you're in one of the further 50 destinations covered by Roam Beyond, our data-only add-ons from £5. Roam Beyond covers data only, not calls or texts, and it starts immediately and can't be cancelled once bought, so buy it while you're still in the UK (or once connected to local Wi-Fi) to avoid wasting a day of your pass. See What is a Roam Beyond add-on? and How do I purchase a Roam Beyond add-on? for the full destination list and how to buy one.
- If your Bill Cap is set to £0, standard roaming usage outside your inclusive destinations will be blocked, so you may need to increase it slightly. This doesn't affect Roam Beyond: add-on purchases go through even at a £0 Bill Cap, since they sit outside the cap.
Step 2 - Check your phone settings.
