ID Mobile's signal coverage is just terrible, & getting worse.

That was the same excuse I was given last time I complained and thing are no better. Can you tell me when the usage is going to lessen so I can use the internet? I’m permanently having trouble hence the second SIM from Vodafone, which uses the same mast. I cannot make calls sometimes on the ID SIM, the coverage is that bad. Is it possible to cancel my contract without penalties because of the poor service? Your Vodafone SIM would not be using the same network cell as your iD SIM, @Joolz. Unfortunately @Joolz, your iD contract has numerous caveats about the availability and performance of their network services. These basically say that iD don’t guarantee everything works perfectly, all the time, whatever your location.Sounds like Vodafone is best option for you in the locations you’re using your phone most.

Sim card PUK code

You’d normally choose your own SIM PIN lock code, which would be explained in the handset user guide, @Richard Cattermole. The PUK for your iD SIM should be in the iD Mobile welcome email.If not or it’s lost, you’ll need to use Live Chat to get your PUK.

Cookie setting pop up

Looks like iD have fixed the issue - community pages in Chrome, Edge and Firefox back to ‘normal’. Given the number of issues with the new iD app and “My iD Account” online services, perhaps no surprise things have spilt-over into their community platform.

My bill is still wrong

I have changed to a SIM only plan though. I signed a new legal agreement and have a new contract. The bill remains wrong. It sounds like you might’ve purchased a second connection to the iD Mobile network, @jabley.Perhaps you’re paying for two iD contracts now - was your original iD plan ~£23/month?

I am being charged on a sim plan that i have never used and cancelled within the 14 day cooling off period

I note many people stating the same thing. I ordered a SIM and after it hadn't arrived by day 12 through much pain and suffering in the auto chatbot I cancelled my contract. At the time of cancellation - the SIM had never been delivered, the SIM hadn't been activated, an ID mobile account had not been created by myself as I did not know my mobile number. The chat that I have a copy of confirmed 1) contract and account cancelled and closed 2) that no charges were taken so no refund was necessary from ID mobile. I cancelled my direct debit and went with a more reputable and reliable provider. Yet now I'm getting threatening emails from ID mobile saying I owe the monthly payment for the SIM and that if I don't pay they will put it on my credit rating that I have defaulted payment. What an absolute scam of a company - charging for items that they don't deliver and services they do not provide! Does anyone at ID mobile monitor this? A response would be nice. An alternative to online is checking your upgrade options with iD Mobile sales, @Damion Taylor. Contact their sales team on 020 7139 1397, between 9am - 6pm.

How did you check coverage, @Pete Cumberlidge? Unfortunately, majority of the online coverage checkers only show a theoretical prediction of the mobile signal expected at any given location. Unfortunately, I don’t think the amount paid each month gets reduced at the end of the minimum term of an iD contract, @jabley. Unless you’ve successfully changed or upgraded to a SIM only plan, when your minimum-term finished, monthly payments don’t change.🍀

Do you both bank with the same company, @Ian1951? Perhaps there’s an issue with the SMS bulk aggregator your bank use to get an SMS from their banking systems, to your mobile device.

Totally agree, and I do get much better signal away from home in general. However, there is a huge difference between “theoretical prediction” & Gross over promising 🤣 Perhaps the iD WiFi Calling service could be an alternative for indoors at home, @OAKUK59 - assuming you’ve got a home Wi-Fi network.

Pretty much in the same boat. Image shows pre order coverage in my locality but rarely hit 1 bar, if I'm lucky. New S24 Ultra, Unlimited, but such poor network coverage. Unfortunately, the online coverage checker only shows a theoretical prediction of the mobile signal expected at that location, @OAKUK59. The actual signal might be better or worse than forecast by the iD coverage checker. Like other providers, the iD Mobile coverage checker has a caveat in the small-print: The https://mastdata.com online site has real-world reception for many locations in the UK.

Given you might’ve been using the same iD PAYG account for 10-years, have you ever received a replacement iD SIM card during this time, @Ian1951? It could be an issue with your iD SIM card. You should not be charged for just connecting to the mobile network of one of iD Mobile’s roaming partners, @Ian1951.

The iD app should just reflect the number you wanted to keep, once the switch from your old provider to iD Mobile has happened, @Scott_lov. It can sometimes take a day or two before the self-service iD app and “My iD Account” online applications show the ported number.

Legal Action over refund

The small claims court might be the least expensive option, @JosephK. Not sure going legal will speed up recovery of the credit amount you’re due though.Normally, like most other UK pay monthly mobile service providers, any credit due is returned via the direct debit you used for your iD account, the next billing cycle after account closure.

Switching Issue

Odd messages may still go to your old phone, if they’re sent (to you) using iMessage or Google RCS protocol, and your old phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network. The protocol used depends on make and model of your old phone, @Beed.

Error 38 when replying to a text (shortcode)

I'm having the exact same issue when trying to reply to 60118 (BT), and have checked and reset my settings The earlier posts appear to reference short-code 61998, @TheDJHut. These short-codes might not be supported on the iD Mobile network, perhaps because iD Mobile aren’t members of the UK “Shortcode Management Group” (SCMG).
