As we step into 2024, it's time once again to reflect on the year ahead. What are your aspirations for this year? Which new skills are you excited to learn? How will you carve out time for what truly matters?

These are common questions with no one-size-fits-all answers. However, if you've set ambitious resolutions, one key ingredient you'll need is motivation.

This January let's shake things up. Instead of rehashing the usual top resolutions, we're offering some fresh New Year inspiration to jumpstart your journey to bigger achievements.

1. Prioritise your health.

Remember the adage: health is wealth. And we're not just talking about signing up for a gym membership; it's about nurturing both your physical and mental well-being.

Your goals for 2024 may vary, but the energy to pursue them often springs from a healthy state of mind and body. Dedicate daily time for activities that clear your mind and reduce stress. This could be yoga, meditation, a morning run, or a gym session.

The secret to consistency? Enjoy the process. Cook and savour the healthy meals you love. Choose activities that thrill you over monotonous treadmill sessions. The hardest part is starting, but once you establish a routine, self-care becomes incredibly fulfilling and equips you to tackle any challenges on your path.

2. Manage your finances wisely.

Financial health is a perennial goal. Achieving financial stability doesn't have to be daunting. There are simple steps you can take to stay on top of your expenses, grow your savings, and allocate funds for your dreams. Today's money management apps are more sophisticated than ever.

Consider this: how often do our purchases total a round number? Rarely. Modern banking apps can round up each payment to the nearest dollar, funnelling the extra into a savings pot for your big plans, be it a dream vacation or reducing monthly bills. Besides apps, setting a budget is a proactive step towards financial wellness.

You don't need a complete lifestyle overhaul to stretch your dollar further. For more tips, check out our 2024 Guide to Saving Money.

3. Make plans to realise your dreams.

What's that long-held dream you've yet to chase? 2024 could be the year to turn it into reality. Whether it's writing a novel, mastering a new language, learning an instrument, or excelling in a sport, the possibilities are endless. Break down your big dream into smaller, manageable goals to make it achievable and satisfying.

Need help tracking your progress? Apps like Strides on the App Store are excellent for setting and monitoring goals in various ways, including milestone markers to keep you motivated.

4. Make time for your loved ones.

Balancing work and home life can be challenging, but it's crucial to stay connected with family and friends. These relationships enrich our lives far more than work or digital entertainment. Regularly check in with your loved ones through calls, texts, or in-person visits.

Plan activities together, both offline and online. Share a meal, join a fitness class, or enjoy a theatre show. For long-distance relationships, tools like Teleparty can sync your movie-watching experiences. The key is to spend quality time doing what you love with those you cherish.

5. Unplug from Your Devices

It might seem counter-intuitive coming from a phone network, but there are times when disconnecting is beneficial. Whether it's to focus on sleep, creative projects, or simply enjoying life's moments, stepping away from screens can be refreshing.

Both iPhone and Android devices offer digital wellbeing features to assist you. iPhone users can set up downtime under Settings > Screen Time, while Android users can explore focus mode and bedtime mode under Settings > Digital Wellbeing. These tools help you manage screen time and improve your overall digital health.

As we embrace 2024, let these ideas inspire you to make the most of the year ahead. Remember, the journey is as important as the destination. Taking breaks from screens and prioritising our mental and physical well-being can lead to increased productivity and happiness in our daily lives. By utilising the digital wellbeing features on our smartphones, we can take control of our screen time and create a healthier balance between technology and real-life experiences. Let's make 2024 a year of self-care and personal growth where we prioritise our well-being and make the most of every moment.

I really struggle with my MH, exercise is one of the keys to producing endorphins, so the fitbit would be very handy to help encourage more exercise

To exercise with a goal, not just do it mindlessly and without focus

My new year's resolution is a bit boring. I am trying to cut out biscuits and do more exercise try to be fitter so I can keep up with my son . He got so much energy I wish I could bottle it up and sell it I would be rich 🤣🤣🤣

My new years resolution ...... as I'm turning 40 this year, my kids are young adults and I have just started a new job. I would like to take things in my life now to the next level. Going to concentrate on new beginnings and new adventures, leaving the old me behind and starting a fresh

My resolution is to travel as much as possible this year!

Not made a resolution as just need to keep motivation to keep fit. This watch would help!

My resolution is to eat healthier , do more exercise and get fitter

My resolution is to religiously keep to my diet and make it my way of life, going forwards.

Userlevel 1

I haven’t made a resolution this year.

Userlevel 1

This year my resolution is not to make any at all!

win win 🏆

I want to start doing the things I keep putting off. There is no better time than now (not later!)

I hope to get more fly fishing done, to be out in nature

My new year's resolution is to keep doing my daily 10 miles walk at least 5 days a week plus one day hiking, or if hiking is not possible, 6 days of 10 miles daily walk at least. So far im on it 😁  A Fitbit will be perfect for tracking it on for the whole year.

See more of my adut son.

My New Year's resolution is to get myself off the couch and take on the three 10K Wolf rums this year, with my three friends. To prove that being in your fifties, doesn't mean your over the hill.

My resolution is to stay healthy so that my wife doesn't have to worry about me

My aspirations for this year are numerous, however the key one would be to finally study psychotherapy. As a part-time nurse, I've enjoyed truly my job for several years but after a mental health crisis in 2019, this new found passion for psychoanalysis has become prominent.

Most importantly taking care of our mind and emotional health has become my passion. I’m finally taking the steps towards a career change but at times I struggle with exercising consistently to maintain balance holistically.

I plan to carve out time to take more walks, workout twice a week consistently whilst working and studying. It will be a challenge but it’s not impossible.

Every year, my resolution, is the same; To try to get as close as possible to a BMI of 25. I keep trying but it is hard. I got to a BMI of 27 or 26 a few years ago. Then I relapsed and my BMI increased. It is very hard. If I can get to BMI of 26, I would be the world’s happiest bunny. Fingers crossed. 2024 might be the year I succeed. Then, I have to maintain that BMI…….

As during any other previous years, I continue to work on myself for a better world, for the benefit of all living beings. ✨️

Yes, my new years resolution is to try and get down to 15% bodyfat.

Looking to get back to my younger self and run a 5k 5x a week and get back to what I was

My new years resolution is to speak up for myself, especially when dealing with the health care system. I tend to just say yes to whatever the doctors tell me to do. I need to say no or question treatments more instead of accepting what is offered.

Cook more, and be more present in the moment😊

My new year resolution Is to quit smoking

Have tried before didn't work but this time I'm going to determine

My new years resolution is finding my own way back into a healthy life, with a lack of mental abuse and physical abandonment. My goal is to try my hardest to stay fit and healthy. But to also stay away from toxic and unjust people. I believe a happy life can only happen when you surround yourself with laughter and friendship. Family are amazing but I believe that friendship can be more powerful than we realize.
