How to Make Your iPhone More Secure.

How to Make Your iPhone More Secure Our phones carry more personal data the more we use them. It’s not just contacts, messages, and WhatsApp. They also store account passwords, financial data, location data, the websites we browse and the searches we make online. As you’ll have seen in our April Newsletter email, your phone privacy, safety, and security are important to us. We want you to have the best experience possible, whether it’s ultra-secure account sign-ins or being pickier with app permissions. Luckily, iPhones make security and privacy a front and centre feature, so keeping your personal info personal couldn’t be easier. Apple’s privacy policy: Of all the big phone brands out there, Apple probably leads the way for user privacy. Every Apple-made app has been built to make your user experience uniquely yours, and not store your data, or worse, sell it to third parties. For example, the Maps app doesn’t link your data to your Apple ID, and it doesn’t record your location histor

Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have arrived!

‘Tis the season for new smartphone launches, where the biggest brands in the smartphone world unveil their latest innovations. September saw Apple unveil their game-changing iPhone 13 range, and now the titans of Android, Google, have launched their two best smartphones yet. We’re talking about the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro. There’s been a lot of hype about these phones over the past few months in the run-up to their release. That’s partially because they’re the first smartphones to feature Google’s own custom-made processor, but there are plenty of other reasons to love these smartphones. Let’s take a closer look: How do they look? See for yourself! The latest phones in the Google Pixel family sport a radically different look to their predecessors. We love the unique ‘bar’ style camera module at the top, and the two-tone design above and below it is a real point of difference. Elsewhere, the selfie camera moves on both phones to the top centre, and both the front and back are protec

    10/4/25 App update loop disaster.

there is no option to update, only open, which leads you back to this! Chat bot requires pin from the app!!! alternative security doesn’t recognise my post code! there’s no way at all to contact this failed organisation! Who is “in charge” of IT for you? Absolutely hopeless. Even the transcript of my chatbot nightmare is selective in what is sent, in order to cover the mess!

    Port-out pin

Reading in the newspaper at the weekend of people who have been scammed following successful attempts to take over their phone number. Can be called a SIM swap scam. Recommended is a preventative move ie to ask the phone provider to set up a ‘port-out PIN’. To be used whenever a port out is requested. IDMobile send a PAC code when a port out is requested, as do others, so I dont see that this is sufficient - I want to prevent a pac code from being issued unless a specific port-out password is used to request it. IDMobile do not have such a port-out password. They do have what they call ‘extra security’. There does not seem to be a link to any info about it. (from ‘live-chat’). Does anyone have any feedback on this, as to whether it is going in fact to add protection against SIM-swap scams. thanks for any info

    Switching and new eSim

So, my wife switched from O2 to Id. O2 had a physical SIM. New esim from ID did not arrive - they are saying they can only send via SMS - which does not now work. Won’t resend as email. She has to call into the provider (currys) to get a new physical sim. Now out of action for second day. Sounds very poor to me. Opinions?

PAC Fraud by ID mobile staff?

Someone accessed my ID Mobile account via the website according to customer support and requested a PAC code They then used the PAC code to initiate the switch. My question is how did they get the PAC code when it’s supposed to be text to your number? I phoned my banks fraud team and they’ve informed me that they’ve seen a high volume of fraud attempts like this from ID mobile numbers and it’s most likely someone working at ID mobile making these requests. A quick google search tells you this has been a common issue with ID mobile over the years and that the staff are useless when it comes to helping you. I’ve took all the necessary steps with my bank, but is there any other way someone could get my PAC code? do they send it by email or live chat?

Why am I seeing a ‘500 error’ code when opening the iD Mobile app?

If you’re seeing a ‘500 error’ when trying to open the iD Mobile app, it means your device has failed App Check. Don’t worry – we’ve got some quick steps to help you get back up and running: What is App Check? App Check helps secure your app by ensuring you're using a genuine, untampered device and that the app comes from a trusted source. If anything seems suspicious, it may block access to protect your data. What does App Check look for? App Check looks out for rooted or jailbroken devices, which are more vulnerable to attacks, or if the iD Mobile app wasn’t downloaded from Google Play or the App Store, as it could have been altered, repackaged or tampered with, which can pose security risks or steal your data. What can you do if you fail App Check and see the ‘500 error’ code? Reinstall the App from the Official Store. Uninstall the app and reinstall it from Google Play or the App Store to make sure you’re using the unmodified version. Check If Your Device is Rooted/Jailbroken. Use
