The best new features coming to your iPhone with iOS 26!Blog
Apple has just unveiled its huge new update, iOS 26! Get ready for a brand new look and some incredibly clever features that will make using your iPhone better than ever. We’ll walk you through the biggest changes, from the stunning "Liquid Glass" design to smart tools that help you block spam calls and messages. And it’s available now! So, before you whip out your iPhone to admire the iOS 26 makeover, we’ll give you a quick guide to some of our fave new features… A fresh new look & feel. Your iPhone is getting a visual makeover that makes it more personal. The new "Liquid Glass" design creates a cool, translucent effect on icons and widgets, giving your display a dynamic and modern look. Run your finger across the screen and it’ll look like you’re viewing your screen through a lens. It’s the biggest visual overhaul since iOS 7. But that’s not all! You’ll have more customisation options for the Lock Screen and Home Screen, allowing you to tailor your device to your unique style. The Camera app has also been made sleeker, letting you slide your finger to open up all the different camera modes - like panorama shots and portrait mode. Resolution can be changed with a simple tap at the top of the display. While it looks new and exciting, it’s still the familiar, easy-to-use iPhone experience you know and love. Say hello to smarter features with Apple Intelligence. Apple Intelligence brings powerful new AI features directly to your iPhone, making everyday tasks easier and more intuitive. One of the standout features is "Live Translation" in Messages and Phone calls. This is perfect for holidays and connecting with people overseas. And the best part? It’s all done on-device, which means your privacy is protected. Another smart addition is "Visual Intelligence," which lets you search for things you see on your screen. Whether it’s a landmark, a product or a piece of art, your iPhone can now help you find more information with just a tap. The Photos app is better than ever. After feedback on the iOS 18 layout, Apple has listened and redesigned the Photos app in iOS 26 to be much more user-friendly. The app now features clear, separate tabs for "Library" and "Collections," making it simple to find your albums and memories. This redesign is a direct response to user feedback, aimed to fix the parts in the last update that some people found confusing. Managing, editing and sharing your precious pics with friends and family has never been easier. No more nuisance calls and texts Get powerful new tools to stop spam and unwanted messages before they bother you. The "Call Screening" feature can find out who’s calling and why before you answer, helping you avoid those annoying telemarketers. Additionally, a new "Messages from unknown senders" folder keeps potential spam out of your main conversation list, ensuring your inbox stays clean and organised. One more thing... iOS 26 is a huge update that brings a beautiful new design, smarter AI tools, an improved Photos app and powerful spam-blocking features to your iPhone. And we’ve only just scratched the surface. Dive deeper and you’ll find an overhaul to CarPlay, Apple Music, Apps and Wallet too. But that’s enough from us for now, what do you think? Which feature are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments below!

Just Some Basic Questions About New Sim Card/VoLTE/Upgrade
Hi, I have a few basic questions on a few different subjects if anyone could help please. Background is that I have an old Samsung Galaxy Prime phone that is about 6 years old. I’ve received a message from ID saying I’m using a 4G VolTE compatible phone but only making calls over 3G. I also have an Alcatel 1B phone which is about 3 years old, which I don’t use for anything currently. No sim card or plan for that, but it takes a nano-sim card. My old Samsung Galaxy Prime takes a Micro sim card, so I can’t put the sim card from the Samsung Galaxy phone into the Alcatel 1B phone. So I have the option of trying to amend the settings on my current phone to allow for 4G, requesting a new sim card for my newer phone or upgrading to a new sim only contract with my newer phone. The instructions for enabling my Samsung Galaxy Prime were to go to Settings - Connections - Mobile Networks - 4G Calling and switch to “on”. However, the Galaxy Prime options were Settings - Connections - More Networks - Mobile Networks but then there are no options for “4G Calling” so I can’t toggle that to “on” anyway by the looks of it unless anyone has a suggestion. Can I simply order a new sim card, while keeping my current contract, which can be used with the Alcatel 1B phone? Is there any danger in losing my current mobile phone number which I would not want to happen. Also, I couldn’t see anywhere in my account where this was actually an option. If upgrade to a new contract (slightly different price and allowances) would they send a new sim card which can be used with the Alcatel 1B phone? Or would the contract be updated but without a new sim card being sent. That wouldn’t be much help if I don’t get a new nano-sim card. Also, again, is there any danger of losing my current mobile phone number, or is this nothing to worry about with a plan upgrade. If I can’t enable my Samsung phone for 4G calling, then it will probably be a choice of option 2 or 3. Is either of these likely to be more straightforward than the other? The bottom line is I’ll probably need a new sim card for the Alcatel phone either continuing with my current contract or opting for a minor upgrade. When I was looking at my account, there were options to upgrade my plan, but I couldn’t see anything to actually request a replacement sim card which could be used in the newer phone while keeping the existing contract exactly the same. And if I do get a new sim card, either as a replacement or an upgrade, is it simply a case of putting it in the Alcatel 1B phone and activating it online, or is there more to it? Finally, is there any way of contacting ID customer services directly with an Email? I might have missed it, but I couldn’t see that as an option anywhere. Thanks

Internet is very slow
I recently got a new Google Pixel 9 Pro XL with an unlimited 500GB 5G plan. While the phone itself is fantastic, the internet speed has been extremely disappointing. To be honest, I’ve never experienced such slow internet speeds before. Download speeds sometimes drop to less than 1 Mbps, and the upload speed is even worse. This is despite having 5G coverage in my area. I contacted iD Mobile customer service, but nothing has improved. According to the contract, here’s what they state about the speed of the internet service: Estimated maximum 4G download and upload speeds: Download: Up to 70 Mbps Upload: Up to 22 Mbps Estimated maximum 5G download and upload speeds: Download: Up to 597 Mbps Upload: Up to 50 Mbps What I’m experiencing isn’t even close to these numbers—not even in my wildest dreams! I'm still within the cooling-off period and wondering what iD Mobile can do to fix this terrible connection. Any advice would be appreciated.

Roam beyond, multiple countries?
I will be visiting Canada and the US later this year for a period of 9 days (5 days in Canada, 4 days in the US). Both countries are covered by the Roam Beyond add on. My question is, do I need to buy the 5 day add-on for each country or if I buy a 10 day add-on will this cover me for both countries?

The best TV streaming services you need to know about in 2025.Blog
Watching TV has never been easier. Whether you're at home, on the train, or waiting for a coffee, streaming services let you catch up on your favourite shows anytime, anywhere. And with so many great series out right now – like Baby Reindeer, Blue Lights, Bridgerton, and Slow Horses – there's no shortage of things to watch. Why streaming services are worth it. According to Ofcom’s Media Nations report for 2025, over 85% of households in the UK now subscribe to at least one TV streaming service. Here are some of the biggest benefits of going full stream ahead: Watch whenever you want – No more waiting around for TV schedules! Binge all night or sneak an episode during lunch – it’s your call. Stream on anything – Phone, tablet, laptop, or the big screen – wherever you are, the show goes on. Share the love – Most streaming services let you set up profiles for everyone, so no one has to fight over what to watch (hopefully). Download and go – Got a long trip or dodgy Wi-Fi? Download your faves and keep the drama going offline. No strings attached – Forget long-term contracts. Most platforms are month-to-month, so you can switch, pause, or cancel whenever you feel like it. Streaming services have completely changed the way we watch TV. Lost the remote again? Your smartphone can save the day!Blog
So, you’re settled on the couch after a long day, ready to binge your favourite show or dive into a gaming session. Then you discover the shocking news - the remote is missing! Or worse, your controller dies mid-match. It’s a small frustration, but so annoying. What if you could save things by using something that’s already right in your hand? Like… your smartphone. Your smartphone - yes, the same one you use to scroll social media and send texts - can double as a powerful controller. From gaming to streaming to smart home management, your phone might be the only remote you’ll ever need. Here’s how easy it is to make the most of it. Level up your gaming: use your phone as a controller. Gaming is more mobile than ever. If you’ve ever dreamed of playing your PS5 or Xbox games from different rooms in your home (or even while traveling) your phone makes it possible. There’s no need to hog the family TV or be tied to the living room anymore. For PlayStation players. Got a PS4 or PS5? The PS Remote Play app is a game-changer (no pun intended) that lets you stream your console games straight to your phone over Wi-Fi. Once the app is installed, just sign in with your PlayStation Network account and you’re in. You’ll even get virtual buttons and joysticks on your screen, so you don’t need a physical controller to play. For Xbox fans. Xbox offers a similar experience through the Xbox app. With it, you can stream games from your console to your phone and even manage game downloads, view achievements, and chat with friends. It’s perfect for quick gaming sessions when the main TV is in use or when you’re away from home. For a console-like experience. On-screen controls are fine, but if you’re after something more tactile, there are awesome mobile accessories like the Razer Kishi or GameSir controllers. These devices snap onto your phone and provide physical buttons, thumbsticks, and triggers - basically turning your phone into a Nintendo Switch-like handheld. They’re perfect for longer gaming sessions or more competitive play. The only remote you’ll ever need. Your phone’s utility doesn’t stop at gaming. It can also replace a whole drawer full of remotes. TVs, streaming devices, sound systems and lots more can often be controlled right from your smartphone. Smart TVs Most modern TVs come with their own companion apps. If you’ve got a Samsung, download SmartThings. For LG TVs, grab the LG ThinQ app. These apps let you adjust the volume, change inputs, launch apps like Netflix, and even type in search bars with your phone’s keyboard (way faster than hunting and pecking with a remote). This is especially useful when your physical remote is lost, broken, or just mysteriously missing batteries (again). Streaming devices Devices like Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Google Chromecast all have free apps that turn your phone into a full-featured remote. Want to pause, rewind, or search by voice? No problem. In fact, these apps often offer more intuitive navigation than the original remotes! You can even use your phone to launch apps, cast videos, or mirror your screen for presentations or family photos—turning your living room into a mini theater. Beyond entertainment: smart home control. Your smartphone doesn’t just control games and shows—it can also manage your entire smart home. If you’ve ever thought about making your living space more tech-friendly, your phone is the perfect hub to start with. Lights, thermostats and more Apps like Google Home, Apple Home, and Amazon Alexa allow you to control compatible smart lights, thermostats, cameras, doorbells, and more—all from one place. For example: Dim the lights without getting up. Adjust the thermostat without leaving the couch. Check your video doorbell when someone rings. Start the coffee maker before you get out of bed. Appliances and extras Even appliances like washing machines, refrigerators, robot vacuums, and air purifiers now have companion apps. Want to start a wash cycle from work? Or get a notification when your fridge door’s left open? You can do that. As smart home tech becomes more common, your phone becomes the ultimate command centre. You’ll be able to control dozens of devices across different rooms or even when you’re away. Final thoughts - the remote that's always with you. Your smartphone is much more than just a communication device. Whether you’re deep into gaming, browsing your favourite shows, or dimming the lights for movie night, it has your back. The best part? You already own it. No need to buy an expensive universal remote or worry about replacing dead batteries in five different controllers. So why not give it a try? Head to your app store and search for your console, smart TV brand, or smart home device. Download the companion app and start exploring all the things your phone can control. It’s easier than you think - and lots of fun too. Already using your phone as a controller? Share your favourite apps or tips in the comments! We'd love to hear how you’re making tech work smarter for you.
