How can I pay a 'one off' payment on a number which will be cancelled shortly? [Complicated: see full note]
I set up a SIM-only deal for my sister when she was visiting from New Zealand two years ago. She visited again this year, but no longer needs the SIM for use in the UK. Until recently I paid this by direct debit (at £6.00 a month it was cheaper to keep it going!) The phone [SIM] is physically in New Zealand and has never been linked to my App. I wanted to cancel the SIM, but could find no information on how to do this, and cancelled the direct debit. This brought about an email from ID mobile and I then spent an inordinate length of time on the website to cancel the Mobile number account. Surely I can’t be the only person on the planet to have more than one mobile phone with the same provider?? However this seemed to cause a lot of confusion. Eventually (after 90+ minutes on “Live Chat”) I was able to schedule cancellation/disconnection. Yesterday I received a ‘Reminder’ email saying that there was an outstanding balance which needed to be paid (having had no communication since my “Live Chat”), but which did not mention either the telephone number or the amount owed. [I was able to establish that the Direct debit on MY main number was still working- so nothing owed there: it had to refer to my Sister’s soon-to-be-cancelled SIM, which is in my name] Another “Live Chat” of 90+ minutes established that is was indeed that other mobile number, with a balance £6.00, and pointed me in the direction of 7777 to make a one-off payment. I tried this, but found that it was tied in to my main number: I could make a payment, but it would be on that account NOT the soon-to-be-cancelled account. Q: How do I make the payment of £6.00? Is there any other way to pay??
