iD Mobile is 10 years old this May! Can you believe it? A whole decade of smart features, incredible milestones, amazing customers (that’s you), and a whole lot of data under the bridge. Since launching in 2015, we’ve been on a mission to make mobile better, more flexible, more affordable, and way more customer-focused. Whether you’ve been with us since the beginning or just joined the iD Mobile family, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate all the ways we’ve grown together. So grab a slice of cake (virtual or real, completely up to you), and let’s take a fun trip down memory lane The early days (2015–2017). What a month May 2015 was. iD Mobile was launched by Carphone Warehouse, with a big idea: to shake things up with a mobile service that put value, flexibility, and transparency first. We knew there was a better way to do mobile, and we were determined to prove it! Fast forward to June 2017, and we were already making waves with inclusive roaming in 50 destinations , more than any other UK network at the time, meaning no more nasty surprises when you checked your bill after a holiday. And in July that same year , we went for the treble. We combined our Data Rollover , Bill Capping , and Roaming features into one great value plan. So… your unused data didn’t go to waste, you could avoid overspending, and you could use your plan abroad. That’s the kind of smart thinking we’re all about. Growing smarter (2018–2019). As we grew, we got even savvier. In February 2018, we introduced Wi-Fi Calling , a total game-changer for anyone living in a signal black spot. Suddenly, staying connected from your kitchen, basement, or anywhere with Wi-Fi was no problem at all. The very next month, we launched the iD Community , our friendly online hub where customers can get help, share advice, and connect with each other 24/7. And where you can read articles just like this one! Then came a biggie: in June 2019, we reached 1 million subscribers! That’s a lot of smart mobile users. And every single one of you helped us get there. Speed, stars & smart features (2021–2023). Things really picked up pace over the past few years. In April 2021, we rolled out the UK’s fastest 5G , powered by our partner network, Three. That meant super-smooth streaming, lightning-fast gaming, and stress-free video calls — no more buffering, no more lag. And our customers were loving it! By February 2023, we were feeling the love with four-star ratings on both Google Reviews and Trustpilot. Your feedback has been a massive part of our success, and we’re so grateful for all the support you’ve shown. A big year for innovation (2024). This past year has been one of our biggest yet. In March 2024, we gave our app a glow-up. The new iD Mobile app got a fresh new look — now quicker and easier to use than ever. With the updated app, you can track how much data you’ve got left, manage multiple plans under one account (a brand-new feature!), and stay in control of your bills by capping extra charges and checking your usage at a glance. It’s everything you need to manage your plan, right at your fingertips. If you haven’t explored it yet, you can learn more or download it here . Then in April 2024, we launched our eSIM . That means less plastic, faster setup, and more flexibility for everyone. It’s one small change with a big impact — and it’s only the beginning. And the cherry on top? In October 2024, we officially hit 2 million subscribers . That’s right — double the love, double the community, double the iD power. We’re growing faster than ever, and we’re not slowing down!
