How to use the iD Community.F.A.Q.
Here’s everything you need to know about making the most of the iD Community. There’s a lot to dive into, but don’t worry—we’ll keep it quick and simple! How do I create a new topic? Thinking about starting a new topic? Before you dive in, use the search bar at the top of the page to check if someone’s already asked the same thing. If you’re sure it hasn’t been covered, go ahead and create your own! Here’s how: Desktop: Click the ‘Create a topic’ button, usually at the top right of the page. Mobile: Tap the ‘Pencil’ icon at the bottom right of your screen. Just make sure you’ve got a registered iD Community account and that you’re logged in before you get started! Decide if your topic is a question or a conversation. If you’re looking for help with a specific issue or have a question about something, choose the question option. But if you just want to start a general discussion or have a bit of a chat with other community members, go for the conversation option instead! Pick a title that’s clear and easy to search for. Keep it short but make sure it explains what your topic is about. A descriptive title helps other community members find your post more easily and quickly figure out if they can lend a hand. Explain your issue with as much detail as you can. The more info you give, the easier it is for other community members to help. Let them know what you’re trying to do and how far you’ve got so far. You can even add images or videos to make things crystal clear—scroll down this article to see how! Please note: Never post any private information (your phone number, email address, home address etc). Remember, this is a public community - anyone can see your posts and use this information against you. Make sure you choose the right category for your question or discussion. This helps other members find it easily and keeps the Community tidy and organised. Not sure which category to pick? No worries—just pop your topic in the ‘Ask a question’ category, and we’ll make sure it gets to the right place! Don’t forget to add tags that describe your topic with relevant keywords. Just like a clear title, this makes it easier for other community members to find your post and join in on the conversation. How do I edit my post? If you spot a mistake or want to add more info after publishing your post, don’t worry - you can still edit it! Here’s how: Go to the post you want to change. Click the three dots at the bottom right corner, then select ‘Edit’. Please note: You’ve got 60 minutes to make edits. If you need to remove private information from your post and are unable to do it yourself, please report the topic by clicking the three dots at the bottom right corner, then select ‘Report’. How do I report a post? If you come across a topic or comment that you think should be reported, or if you want personal information removed from your own post, here’s what you need to do: Go to the post you want to report. Click the three dots at the bottom right corner and select ‘Report’. Only report topics or comments if they involve: Spam. Advertising. Soliciting. Harassment. Private information (like email addresses or phone numbers). Any other content that doesn’t follow our T&Cs If you’re unsure whether something should be reported, it’s better to be safe and report it anyway. One of our moderators will review your report and take the necessary steps.

Different apps shine in different areas. Here’s our breakdown of the best navigation tools for UK walkers: OS Maps: This one’s the gold standard. It taps into the official, highly detailed Ordnance Survey maps trusted by hikers for generations. If precision and reliability are non-negotiable for you, OS Maps is your go-to. But if you’re going for a stroll around the local common, it’s probably overkill. AllTrails: Think of it as social media meets hiking. With thousands of user-submitted trails, reviews and photos, it’s perfect for discovering walks nearby - including hidden gems you won’t find on a printed map. When it comes to finding great walking routes, you can’t beat local knowledge! Komoot: Planning something longer or more adventurous? Komoot offers turn-by-turn voice navigation, making it feel like a sat-nav for footpaths. It’s brilliant for hikes, bike rides or weekend treks into the unknown. The most important app for your safety: What3Words. If you take one safety app with you, make it What3Words . This ingenious tool divides the world into tiny 3-metre squares and gives each one a unique three-word address. If you ever get lost, injured or stuck in a remote spot, you can use the app to share your location with emergency services - down to the exact metre. Fast, simple, potentially lifesaving. The Golden Rule: Always download offline maps. You can’t rely on mobile signal in the hills, valleys and remote paths of the UK. That’s why downloading your maps before you go is absolutely essential. That way, you’ll always have some means of finding your way if your mobile signal gives up on you. Apps like OS Maps , AllTrails , and Komoot let you save your route directly to your device. Offline access not only gives you peace of mind, but it's also a smart move for your mobile plan. It saves your data and extends your battery life by avoiding the constant search for a signal. Track your trek with a smartwatch. Serious Network and SMS Reception Issues – Request for Contract Cancellation Option
Dear iD Mobile Team, I switched from Vodafone to iD Mobile three months ago, mainly attracted by the competitive phone offers you had. However, since then, I have been facing serious issues that are making my daily life significantly harder. SMS Reception Problems: I am unable to receive messages from many companies, especially verification codes (OTP messages). These messages arrive after a day or two, or sometimes not at all. This is a major problem for me, as I rely on these codes for essential services. I cannot understand why this issue persists, but it is causing me significant inconvenience. Misleading Coverage and Internet Performance: Before purchasing the SIM, I checked your coverage and internet speed maps, which showed full 4G coverage for both my home and workplace. Unfortunately, in reality, the network reception is extremely poor in these locations. This discrepancy between the coverage map and actual service quality is very disappointing and misleading. Given these ongoing problems, I would like to know if it is possible to cancel my contract without penalty after these three months. The network speed claims and SMS reliability were key factors in my decision, and both have failed to meet expectations. Please advise me on what steps I can take regarding this matter, as these issues are critical for my daily communication and work. I look forward to your urgent response.
